Job Summary

The Quality Improvement Program Coordinator will be responsible to promote a health care environment that is exceptional in quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Quality Coordinator plans and carries out complex cross functional projects using advanced process improvement skills and methods, working closely with a number of committees and teams as a subject matter expert; coordinates the collection and review of performance metrics in support of the department. Provides leadership, facilitation, coordination and education for performance improvement activities and groups within the assigned department. This person reports directly to the Ambulatory Quality Manager.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in health care or business-related field required or a minimum of four (4) years experience working in quality, data analysis, managed care and/or utilization tracking

Licenses/ Certifications: Relevant license required based on assigned business unit

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Five (5+) or more years of relevant clinical experience are required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent Quality Management experience preferred.

  • Investigative, decision making, problem solving, organization and analytical skills required.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to adapt in multiple work environments.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assists in identifying performance improvement opportunities within the assigned department, prioritizing the opportunities, collaborating with leaders and clinicians, planning and initiating intervention collaboratively and independently, and monitoring the impact.

  • Collects process and outcomes data from a variety of sources (chart review, computer generated reports, clinic reports, and observation) to provide accurate and consistent information for review and assessment of the clinical services and core measures.

  • Oversee the adverse events process through collection of data and review of trends.

  • Orient and teach new staff members about performance and quality standards. Re-educate current staff members about performance and quality standards during performance improvement planning. Serve as an educational resource to staff.

  • Works in close partnership with the Manager of Quality & Regulatory and other leaders within the departments.

  • Performs concurrent chart audits to guide, support, and educate physicians and staff on the documentation requirements for core measures and other improvement initiatives.

  • Serve as staff resource, proposing recommendations on performance improvement activities and projects as identified through data analysis and the needs of the organization.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
