Role – Systems Administrator

About the Role:
At MPG, we’re hiring a hands-on Systems Administrator who thrives on solving real-world problems across infrastructure, systems, and operations. This individual will be based in our Greensboro, NC location and play a vital role in supporting day-to-day IT services while advancing enterprise-wide initiatives through collaboration, technical expertise, and initiative.

This is a high-accountability, high-impact role for someone with a broad IT background — who’s ready to step into an environment that values action, relationships, and forward motion.

You will serve as the local technical lead for Greensboro, work closely with Service Delivery escalations, and regularly support our broader organization (typically 2–3 days per week onsite in Raleigh, based on project needs and priorities) to stay connected to our broader IT strategy and infrastructure team.

The Challenge:

MPG is rapidly growing and modernizing its IT landscape. Our infrastructure is becoming more standardized, scalable, and performance driven. We need an engineer who can both be hands-on and contribute to our future strategy — someone who’s confident supporting operations, enabling strategic initiatives, and engaging directly with internal customers as well as vendors.

Your Solution:

You’ll be the go-to technical point of contact for IT systems, network support, site management, and l3 escalations in Greensboro — while contributing to broader projects. Your work will directly impact user experience, system performance, and infrastructure reliability across the company.

Key Responsibilities:

IT Systems & Server Management
• Manage and maintain server environments, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), and storage solutions
• Configure and deploy new systems—hardware and virtual
• Oversee backup/recovery and system availability for key applications and services

Directory Services & User Management
• Manage Active Directory and other identity platforms
• Support device/user provisioning, deprovisioning, and GPO management

Patching, Monitoring & Escalations
• Implement and maintain patching practices across servers and endpoints
• Monitor system health and respond to alerts and issues proactively
• Troubleshoot escalated end-user and system-level problems

Network & Site Operations Support
• Support site networking, wireless, and switching infrastructure
• Assist in managing firewalls, WAN optimization, and connectivity troubleshooting
• Own the Greensboro site's IT readiness, uptime, and vendor coordination

Collaboration & Vendor Management
• Work closely with the IT Tech Level II and other teammates to support operational coverage
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware support, upgrades, and installations
• Serve as a key execution partner for the Infrastructure Manager

• Ensure vendor SLAs and performance expectations are met

Manufacturing & OT Site Support
• Understand the intersection of IT and OT systems (production equipment, machine controllers) and support basic troubleshooting or coordination with OT teams
• Serve as a liaison for site-level technology issues impacting production, including floor-level connectivity or device issues
• Support uptime, reliability, and rapid response needs of 24x7 manufacturing operations

Cloud Familiarity & Support
• Collaborate on Microsoft 365 and Azure-related projects, including identity, device management, and endpoint security
• Assist with hybrid environments, such as managing on-prem servers that sync with cloud services
• Support Intune, conditional access policies, and cloud-hosted service troubleshooting as part of the broader IT roadmap

Documentation & Standards Compliance
• Document system configurations, site standards, and recovery procedures to support repeatability and transparency
• Ensure all local infrastructure aligns with MPG standards for system builds, patching cadence, and naming conventions

After-Hours & Incident Response Readiness
• Participate in escalation off-hours response for critical infrastructure or production-impacting issues (within reason)
• Ensure proactive communication and issue resolution in high-pressure situations impacting operations

What We’re Looking For:

Required:

• 10+ years of broad IT infrastructure experience, ideally in a hybrid enterprise
• Solid understanding of Windows Server, virtualization, patching, networking, and storage
• Experience with Active Directory, GPO, backups, and device provisioning
• Working knowledge of cloud services (Azure, M365, or equivalent)
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, self-starting mentality, and follow-through
• Must be willing to work from both Greensboro and Raleigh, with 2–3 days per week onsite in Raleigh as needed. This is not a fixed schedule and may vary week to week based on project demands and operational priorities
• Strong communication skills with a service mindset and technical accountability

Desired:

• Certifications such as CompTIA (A+/Net+/Sec+), MCSE, CCNA
• Familiarity with enterprise patching systems (Intune, SCCM, WSUS)
• Experience with site migrations, server refreshes, or endpoint standardization projects
• Manufacturing or multi-site experience a plus

How You Will Be Successful:

• Ownership Mentality: You treat the infrastructure as your own and take responsibility for results.
• Broad Technical Acumen: You’re comfortable switching between tasks—server one hour, vendor coordination the next.
• Customer Focus: You stay calm under pressure, support users professionally, and always seek resolution.
• Team Player: You’re collaborative, but also confident working independently when needed.
• Execution Oriented: You move things forward, especially when others stall or get stuck.

Salary Range:

$xxxx –$xxxx USD annually + bonus, depending on experience.

Role Summary:

As an IT Engineer at MPG, you’ll play a role in managing servers, storage, virtualization platforms, backups, and networking while supporting local operations in Greensboro and contributing to broader projects across our infrastructure team.
