That’s why our Personal Trainer role is such an essential part of the Parks & Recreation team at the new Redmond Senior & Community Center. This position supports community members in achieving their health and fitness goals through personalized guidance, expert instruction, and a welcoming presence in our Fitness Zone. It’s a fantastic, part-time opportunity for someone who holds a personal training certification and is passionate about helping others feel stronger and more confident.


You’ll be successful in this role if you enjoy designing individualized workout plans, coaching participants through proper technique, and adapting exercises to meet a wide range of abilities and goals. 


Hours: We are specifically seeking Personal Trainers who are available during mornings and daytime hours. Trainers set their own availability and are matched with clients, accordingly, resulting in flexible schedules that may vary based on client demand and individual appointment times. 


The position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week on average and no more than 1,040 hours per year. 


Locations: The Redmond Senior & Community Center serves as the primary location for Personal Training sessions. However, clients may request to train at the Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village if they prefer that location.

Position Duties

  • Conduct fitness assessments and develop customized training plans 

  • Lead one-on-one and small group training sessions 

  • Educate participants on proper exercise techniques and safety 

  • Monitor progress and adjust programs as needed 

  • Maintain a welcoming workout environment 

  • Encourage participation and foster a sense of community 

  • Once matched with a client, the trainer manages all scheduling and communication directly 



Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • Must be 18 years of age 

  • Minimum one year of experience leading groups 

  • Successful passing of a required background check. 


Licenses and Certifications: 

  • Must have or obtain First Aid and CPR within two months of hire 

  • Current Personal Trainer certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, or equivalent)

Selection Process

  • Note, the City may review existing application pools to fill this position or use this pool to fill future vacancies.

  • Offers of employment are conditional based on the candidate successfully passing both background and reference checks. Internal candidates are subject to passing a new background if the previous check was conducted more than six months ago.

  • Additionally, new hires relocating to the area are required to have Washington State residency within 30 days of their start date to comply payroll tax purposes.
