The Direct Install Technician will be responsible for installing materials and completing various improvements in homes participating in programs administered through the Home Improvement & Optimization Department, including but not limited to the Weatherization Assistance Program, Long Island Home Improvement Program, Access to Home, RESTORE, Town of Babylon CDBG Program, and the Suffolk County Land Bank.
Responsibilities
• Install weatherization materials in single family and multifamily units according to approved project work scopes. This includes measures such as insulation, air sealing, weather stripping, caulking, light fixtures, power strips, smoke and CO detectors, air conditioner covers, sheetrock, interior and exterior doors, and other minor energy efficiency measures.
• Interact professionally with customers to explain the benefits of energy efficiency measures, answer questions, and provide instructions on the proper use of installed products.
• Have ability to complete basic level repairs such as tiling, repairing minor plumbing leaks, carpentry, gutter cleaning, spackling, and painting.
• Assist with audits, post-inspections, and on-site certification visits with NYS HCR representatives. Complete any necessary work to correct deficiencies.
• Assist the Direct Install Coordinator with storage and vehicle operations by ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and NYS regulations. Assist with monitoring inventory by keeping track of material usage and track all mileage incurred by company vehicles.
• Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds. Must maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License as position is required to drive CDCLI owned vehicles.
