Position Summary: 

The Contracts Specialist will play a crucial role in optimizing and managing the Company's contract lifecycle processes and will be a key member of the legal team assisting in all facets of the department’s efforts.

Schedule: 

This position is in-office from Monday – Thursday in our new Burlington, MA location, with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays. 

Position Scope: 

  • Draft and/or review a range of professional contracts and agreements, including professional services contracts, clinical trial agreements, supply agreements, consulting agreements, master service agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other agreements relevant to the medical device and biopharmaceutical industries.
  • Collaborate closely with internal business partners (e.g., Marketing, Finance, Sales, Medical, IT, R&D, Business Development, etc.) to ensure contract terms align with corporate and department objectives.
  • Ability to quickly identify potential legal, financial and operational risks to the business, to work with other members of the Legal and Compliance Department to secure favorable terms and conditions, which align with the Company’s interest and goals, and to ensure compliance with the Company Code of Business Conduct and Ethics as well as its Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of the Company’s contract management system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract records, template agreements and documentation in accordance with Company processes and contract management system procedures.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to continuously assess and optimize the contract management processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness.
  • Work closely within the Legal Department to ensure contract compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and legal standards, fostering strong communication and collaboration throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Exercise independent judgment and escalate complex legal issues to attorneys for resolution when necessary.  
  • Support the Legal Department with a variety of initiatives, including but not limited to litigation management, drafting and reviewing training materials, monitoring and auditing, and state and federal reporting relevant to the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries, including aggregate spend compliance and price transparency reporting, and other compliance initiatives.
  • Provide support to all members of the Legal Department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in legal studies or related field. 
  • Paralegal Degree or Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years contracts, paralegal experience or equivalent role within the medical device, biopharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations relevant to the medical technology and biopharmaceutical industries including, but not limited to, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, the AdvaMed Code of Conduct, state and federal privacy laws, and Anti-Kickback laws.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills are critical.
  • Thorough understanding of issues and requirements specific to contracts relevant to the medical technology and biopharmaceutical industries.
  • Proficiency in contract management software (ideally Conga), Veeva Vault and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, with high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively toward the most effective solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment including the ability to exercise sound business judgment, know when to seek the input of others, and work independently when efficiency is required.
  • Commitment to integrity and ethical conduct; ability to handle confidential and proprietary information with discretion, and experience working in a high-growth public company environment.
