Highly Complex Clinical Lab Technician
Location: Metro Detroit (Need to be able to travel between locations)

About the Role
Are you a skilled laboratory professional eager to make a meaningful impact in the field of molecular diagnostics? We are seeking qualified candidates to work independently in our state-of-the-art molecular PCR laboratory, specializing in respiratory pathogen and urinary tract infection panels utilizing Thermo Fisher QuantStudio and/or BD Max platforms.
This position is critical to ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable laboratory testing that directly impacts patient care. Prior experience in a molecular PCR or similar laboratory setting is essential.
Key Responsibilities
As a PCR Technologist, you will play a vital role in our laboratory under the guidance of the Lab Technical Supervisor. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth operation and administration of the PCR Laboratory.
Handle patient specimens with care, ensuring proper accessioning and storage.
Collaborate with the supervisor in the daily management of laboratory operations.
Follow and adhere to technical procedures outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
Perform DNA and RNA extraction with precision.
Conduct PCR testing and analyze PCR products, including sequencing, hybridization, or fragment analysis.
Support the implementation and administration of Quality Control Programs.
Assist with inventory management, including ordering of PCR-related supplies.
Collect sample data or perform accessioning as needed.
Ensure compliance with all Federal and State regulations related to histology, including maintaining accurate records (e.g., Maintenance Logs, Temperature Logs).
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related field (Transcripts are REQUIRED).
Experience: Minimum of one year of clinical biological laboratory experience is required.
Highly Desired Skills
Strong knowledge of nucleic acid technology and quality control/quality improvement programs.
Familiarity with pipetting techniques and basic chemical calculations.
Proficient in PCR extraction techniques.
Detail-oriented with strong ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Comfortable with computer systems and software relevant to laboratory operations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
