Math Interventionist

SUMMARY:  The Interventionist assists the principal and other members of the administrative team in providing leadership to organize, administer, and provide support for an effective school program that increases student achievement by delivering effective instructional strategies to students.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Work with principal, staff and parents on research based instructional strategies that assist in continuously improving student achievement and instruction
  • Assist in providing professional leadership to organize, administer and provide support for an effective school program that increases student achievement per the curriculum
  • Teaches network approved curriculum
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and – in harmony with the goals – establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Diagnoses the learning abilities of students.
  • Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  • Assist in establishing an optimal learning environment within the school
  • Ensure all school programs and activities conform to Confluence Academies guidelines
  • Assist in establishing a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students
  • Communicate and work effectively and constructively with members of the school and community
  • React to change and interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines assigned
  • Work to implement the vision and mission of Confluence Academies per the strategic plan
  • Work with technology/computer systems especially as they relate to the teaching and learning process
  • Supervise, direct, motivate and collaborate with the building principal to improve teaching and learning within the school
  • Model commitment and dedication to work
  • Work independently and without supervision, and complete work in an efficient manner
  • Support the functions of the school including student discipline and other supervisory duties as assigned by the principal
  • Assist the principal and administrative team in the overall administration of the school
  • Keep current on changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing concerns of mutual interest with others in the field
  • Attend extracurricular activities scheduled during the day or in the evening as needed
  • Instill and promote quality instructional programs in the school and to ensure high levels of achievement from all students
  • Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and assists in supervising students throughout school day and at evening activities; implementing instructional programs and providing instructional leadership; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience:  Masters Degree in Education, minimum of 4 years teaching and/or administrative experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Valid Teaching Certificate. 

 

Language Skills:  Ability to read and analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the public.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

 Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:  Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.  Ability   to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.  The employee must be able to hear, and determine where noises are coming from.

Building supervision often requires the employee to be outside in all sorts of weather or conditions.  The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day and location.
