Printpack, a leader in the Flexible Packaging Industry, is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Product Development Engineer II.

The position will be in Atlanta, GA and will report to the Product Development Manager.

Requirements: 

  • Experience in a related technical field (e.g., Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Polymer or Material Science, Packaging Science, etc.) or equivalent customer-facing industry experience demonstrating material and process-based converting excellence
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Evidence of presentation skills and business awareness
  • Evidence of relationship building with customers and internal/external stakeholders
  • Travel commitment:  25 – 50% (U.S. Customer/Printpack plant trials)

Preferred Background and Skills: 

  • Product Development and/or Application Development and/or Process Engineering experience preferred 
  • Experience in a flexible packaging industry technical role is a plus 
  • Flexible packaging converting experience in printing, laminating, bag/pouch making is a plus 
  • Experience with continuous improvement, driving cost savings, process improvements, raw material sourcing initiatives, and the like is a plus


Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate directly with customers and suppliers, and cross-functionally with sales, marketing, manufacturing, and operations planning for timely, successful commercialization of new converted products and product improvements

  • Successfully partner with internal and external customers to meet Printpack’s objectives, traveling to execute trials at suppliers, Printpack manufacturing sites, and customer packaging locations

  • Apply a combination of material, manufacturing process, and quality knowledge and experience to develop and optimize superior flexible packaging offerings that meet customer needs and expectations

  • Design and validate product specifications to be fit-for-use and fit-for-make. Data gathering and analysis are imperative for success

  • Support team-based technical support of unassigned customers

  • Support manufacturing technical needs for existing specifications

  • Support internal continuous improvement activities and sourcing initiatives

  • Be a resource for material/process-related root cause investigations 

  • Lead divisional initiatives on new converting and raw material technology. Identify opportunities for innovative growth, disseminating such information appropriately within the Printpack technical community. 

  • Have a bias for internal and external customer service 

  • Embrace and support an innovative, collaborative environment
