We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer I to join our infrastructure and operations team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in Linux administration, AWS cloud services, and automation who is eager to build resilient, scalable systems. You will help manage and optimize production environments, develop automation scripts to improve efficiency, and implement monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability.
As part of the on-call rotation, you will play a critical role in incident response and root cause analysis, collaborating closely with development teams to embed reliability best practices. This is a hands-on opportunity to grow your expertise in cloud infrastructure, observability, and Infrastructure-as-Code while contributing to high-impact, business-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration:
- Manage, monitor, and optimize Linux-based systems and servers.
- Troubleshoot OS-level, network, and performance issues.
- Cloud Infrastructure (AWS):
- Deploy, configure, and manage AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, VPC, etc.).
- Optimize cost and performance of AWS environments.
- Implement high-availability and disaster recovery strategies.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Develop automation scripts in Bash, Perl, and SQL to improve operational efficiency.
- Write deployment and monitoring scripts for routine tasks.
- Maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform / CloudFormation.
- Monitoring & Reliability:
- Implement observability solutions (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, etc.).
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and prevent recurrence.
- Ensure systems meet defined SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs.
- Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Work closely with development teams to integrate reliability best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical incident response.
- Drive continuous improvements in automation, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Linux administration and troubleshooting
- Solid hands-on experience with AWS services (compute, storage, networking, monitoring)
- Proficiency in scripting languages:
- Bash (shell scripting)
- Perl (automation & text processing)
- SQL (querying, data automation, reporting)
- Experience with system monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Nagios, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls)
- Experience with automation/IaC tools like Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation
- Strong problem-solving and incident management skills
