Job Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise and Operations:
• Provide advanced technical support to the APAC Service and Construction organisations.
• Lead troubleshooting, repairs, and on-site inspections as required.
• Review and approve Component Inspection Reports with actionable recommendations for repair or replacement.
• Conducted diagnostics using operational data, condition monitoring systems (CMS) data, and oil analysis results.
• Perform root cause analysis for recurring mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions
• Review and initiate engineering change management
2. Continuous Improvement and Cost Optimisation:
• Engineer cost-out solutions through process improvements, alternative suppliers, and innovative tools.
• Create and manage Quality Issues aligned with the DMAIC process.
• Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and increased system availability.
• Collaborate with the technology team to approve and implement cost-out ideas.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
• Act as the regional single point of contact for R&D and technical escalations within the global organisation.
• Participate in customer meetings to address technical concerns and build strong relationships.
• Engage with suppliers to resolve technical issues and drive component improvements.
• Collaborate with various teams to foster knowledge sharing and achieve technical excellence.
• Work closely with electrical engineers, structural engineers, and technicians to address multi-disciplinary challenges in turbine operation
4. Documentation and Reporting:
• Prepare high-level technical reports, including inspection report, root cause analysis and provide input into global serious incident reports.
• Identify, create Technical Memos and Information Sheets for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Translate technical issues into business cases to support decision-making.
5. Specialised Knowledge Areas:
• Provide expertise on mechanical components such as gearboxes, hydraulic systems, bearings, bolted connections, and rotating units.
• Developing knowledge in areas like blade bearings, yaw systems, torque arms, and pitch systems.
• Contribute to risk mitigation strategies through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and upgrades.
6. Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety standards and industry regulations, ensuring that all maintenance work complies with local laws and environmental standards.
- Participate on request and contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies.
Qualification:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6-10 years of technical experience
• Wind turbine knowledge or experience is strongly preferred.
• Project management experience (as a participant or leader) is an advantage.
• Six Sigma certification is a plus.
• Expertise in mechanical modules, including gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and condition monitoring systems
Competencies:
• Knowledge of mechanical systems used in wind turbines, such as gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and hydraulic systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative solutions.
• Experience with CMS and Oil Analysis.
• Good communication and team collaboration skills.
• Proven leadership ability to guide projects and influence stakeholders.
• Familiarity with DMAIC , 8D processes and 5-Whys
