Why You’ll Want to Join Us
This is a hands-on operations role where your ability to coordinate people, manage day-to-day schedules, and respond to operational challenges will make a real difference. You’ll gain exposure to a diverse range of operations, from harbour towage and terminal towage to supporting navy activities, giving you a unique breadth of experience that few ports can offer. Working closely with the Port Manager, you’ll ensure vessels and crews are resourced, compliant, and supported, while fostering a safe and positive workplace culture.
How You’ll Make a Difference
Reporting to the local Port Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
Being the first point of contact for crews on operational and people-related matters
Coordinating training, certification, and compliance to ensure operational readiness
Supporting technical maintenance and dry-docking planning alongside the Technical Superintendent
Engaging with port authorities, committees, and stakeholders on behalf of Svitzer
Driving health, safety, environment, and quality standards across port operations
Providing reports and compliance documentation to customers and stakeholders
Assisting with budgeting, cost control, and supporting commercial opportunities
What You’ll Bring
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
Practical experience in the maritime industry and a strong interest in growing your career in shore-based marine operations
A team player with a proactive mindset - you’re ready to step in, take initiative, and help things run smoothly
Solid time management - you’re organised, adaptable, and able to stay focused when things get busy
Clear and respectful communicator - you build strong relationships, work well with different people, and represent the team with confidence and professionalism
A working understanding of classification societies and statutory bodies is helpful, but we’ll support your learning as you go
A strong safety mindset and a willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to continuous improvement on the ground
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence in preparing reports and data for stakeholders
