APRA AMCOS represents more than 124,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers and is a member-owned music rights management organisation, positioned at the intersection of music, data and technology. We license organisations to play, perform, copy or record our members’ music, and we distribute the royalties to our members.  


We are seeking a dynamic, commercially astute and experienced senior executive to lead our OneMusic Australia team in the role of Director, OneMusic Australia. Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer, you’ll own and deliver on our ambitious national growth strategy.  


When music is played in a commercial or public space like a bar, gym or café, permission is generally required through a OneMusic licence. The Director, OneMusic Australia is responsible for managing, developing and growing APRA AMCOS’ OneMusic Australia business, which has responsibilities in educating all markets, maximising sales and revenue opportunities, delivering excellent customer service and client retention for APRA AMCOS public performance licensing and the matching neighbouring rights of the PPCA.  


The role is based in our Ultimo office, which is on Gadigal land
 

In this role, you will: 

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve revenue budgets, sales and customer acquisition targets. 
  • Lead the operations of the department,
    across new business digital sales, business development, existing business account management, customer service and compliance in collaboration with cross functional teams including marketing, communications, ecommerce, product and data and our New Zealand OneMusic business.
     
  • Act as the key public face of OneMusic in Australia. In this role you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with industry stakeholders. The position serves as a spokesperson and strategic communicator, ensuring key messages are clearly and consistently conveyed across industry events, media, conferences, and public forums. 
  • Be responsible for effective delivery of high-quality services to clients and members including by ensuring the team adheres to relevant policies and legislation (e.g. Code of Conduct, ACCC Reauthorisation conditions, and Privacy Act) 


To thrive in this role, you'll need:  

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership/general manager role with a focus on sales and business development. 
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering strategic and operational plans aligned to a broader organisational vision.   
  • Excellent strategic thinking combining sound judgment and commercial acumen in the context of sales and revenue generation. 
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching and networking skills, with the ability to build, nurture, and maintain long-term relationships. 
  • Proven experience of leading a large team with the ability to inspire, lead by example, and maintain a positive culture. 
  • Experience in selling an intangible product within digital, data, and ecommerce businesses in adjacent industries like media, insurance, financial services. 
  • While not essential, an understanding of music rights and the challenges facing the industry
    would be highly regarded.
