We’re looking for an experienced professional to provide efficient and comprehensive administrative support to the RBA’s International Policy & Engagement team across a range of tasks, including travel bookings, schedule coordination, record management, and liaising with stakeholders.

  • Play an important role supporting the RBA’s international engagements, including its technical cooperation program, participation in the International Monetary Fund, G20, Bank for International Settlements and other global and regional forums.
  • Apply your skills to varied and meaningful work that contributes to international efforts to address the challenges facing the global economy and financial system, and to improve the international financial architecture.

About the role

As the team’s Senior International Engagement Officer, you will act as a key point of coordination in managing internal and external meetings, travel arrangements, records, and other administrative tasks as required.

You’ll be involved in a variety of activities including:

  • Coordinating technical cooperation with other central banks, including proactive organisation of internal and external meetings, booking of meeting rooms and resources, catering, room set up, registration and collection of external guests and recording of meeting information in the relevant registers.
  • Logistical support for the RBA’s participation in key international forums including registrations, coordinating bilateral meetings, and other travel arrangements.
  • Proactive inbox management for the International Policy & Engagement team, flagging emails for action within deadlines and following up.
  • Booking of domestic and international travel as required.
  • Working closely with the offices of the Governor, Deputy Governor and other senior executives, especially in the lead up to key international meetings.
  • Effectively managing records and other sensitive documentation.
  • Providing a range of administrative support functions such as preparing documents, maintenance of registers and databases and maintaining email distribution lists.
  • Proactively suggest and implement improvements to team processes.

About you

You are a proactive and adaptable professional with excellent organisation, administration and time management skills, and a strong desire to learn. As this is a newly established role, we are looking for someone who brings initiative and curiosity and is excited to work with the team to develop new and efficient processes.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Proven strong organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple and often conflicting tasks.
  • Strong skills in MS Office tools (in particular Outlook; also Word, PowerPoint, OneNote and SharePoint) and content or document management software (e.g. TRIM).
  • A proactive approach to work with the ability to work autonomously, employ initiative to find solutions, prioritise and exercise discretion.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to be flexible when change occurs.
  • Willingness to support and where necessary guide others to succeed in their tasks and objectives.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships quickly and work productively with a wide variety of stakeholders to enable tasks to be actioned efficiently.

The successful applicant will need to apply for an NV1 security clearance.


About the team

You’ll be part of a small and dynamic team that is responsible for the RBA’s engagement in global and regional forums, and for maintaining relationships with other central banks. The RBA’s participation in international forums contributes to better global and regional outcomes, ensures that Australian interests are considered, and allows the RBA to gain and share knowledge with overseas counterparts. The team also leads the RBA’s provision of technical assistance to foreign central banks particularly those in the Asia Pacific region.

The International Policy & Engagement team is part of the RBA’s International Department, which is also responsible for the Bank’s foreign exchange operations, investment of international reserve holdings of gold and foreign exchange, and for providing regular advice on developments in international financial markets to the Governors and the Reserve Bank Board.
