Summary:

This position is responsible for the total operation of an assigned business area within Tyson Foods. The role ensures the efficient, safe, and compliant manufacturing of high-quality products while maintaining alignment with company policies and procedures. The position provides supervisors with the information, materials, and training necessary to optimize production, and it monitors critical aspects of operations, including attendance, payroll, production, safety, ergonomics, and Total Quality Management (TQM). The Operations Supervisor/Area Manager is expected to promote continuous improvement, encourage the development of new ideas from team members, and analyze non-routine issues, offering solutions and recommendations to the Plant Manager. Additional responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with USDA, Federal, and State regulations, and managing key performance metrics such as safety, yields, quality, team member relations, turnover, absenteeism, discipline, staffing, payroll, and line speeds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the assigned business area to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production.

  • Provide supervisors with resources, training, and guidance to achieve production and quality goals.

  • Monitor and maintain records related to attendance, payroll, production, safety, ergonomics, and TQM.

  • Ensure compliance with USDA, Federal, and State regulations across all operations.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and encourage innovative ideas from team members.

  • Analyze non-routine operational challenges and recommend solutions to the Plant Manager.

  • Maintain performance in critical areas, including safety, production yields, quality, staffing, turnover, absenteeism, and employee relations.

  • Enforce company policies regarding discipline, safety standards, and production procedures.

  • Support staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate line speeds and workforce availability.

Requirements:

Education: Post-secondary education including vocational training, college courses, or equivalent work experience required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of general knowledge and hands-on experience in production techniques, procedures, product yields, and quality standards. Knowledge of USDA and OSHA regulations required. Prior processing management experience strongly preferred.

Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency required.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.

Travel: Travel may be required as business needs dictate.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise a team of personnel performing related production tasks, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
