Summary: The Tool Room Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Tool Room; including the day-to-day operations, managing the Tool Room teammates, communicating and maintaining internal and external relationships, and ensuring production deadlines are met in a timely manner. In addition, assisting with procurement of machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

· Coordinates fixture repair and maintenance and in production troubleshooting

· Participates in new product launch identifying tooling needs & requirements

· Manages tool build with active participation

· Participate in continuous improvement projects as needed.

· Develop and maintain production plans, coordinating with other departments and outside vendors to ensure all necessary materials and resources are available when needed.

· Organize external vendor visits for machinery and training.

· Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment issues across production, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth operations.

· Work with production teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.

· Perform preventative maintenance and recommend mechanical improvements to extend equipment life.

· Design and fabricate custom tooling, fixtures, and work holding solutions to optimize production processes.

· Modify and adapt existing tooling to improve efficiency, accuracy, and ease of operation.

· Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure tooling solutions meet job & client specific requirements.

· Support the setup and optimization of mechanical processes for maximum productivity and quality.

· Verify dimensions, tolerances, and other specifications to meet strict production standards.

· Provide guidance to operators on blueprint interpretation and process adjustments.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, one to three years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of both.

· Machining experience

· Programming experience

· Experience working with CAD/CAM software experience preferred

· Knowledge and experience working with customers drawings

· Ontime organizational skills

· Microsoft office suite knowledge/experience

· Fixturing and tooling

· Able to read and understand documents such as work instructions.

· Able to use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices.

· Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
