Russell Standard is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Associate to join our Human Resource team. The Payroll Associate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, working 1-2 days per week in the Pittsburgh, PA corporate office after the new hire training period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly and weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and prevailing wage employees across multiple states.
  • Manage garnishments, bonuses, special payments, benefit deductions, 401k accounts.
  • Manage onboarding (Hired to Pay system set up) and terminations.
  • Review and audit timekeeping records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain and update employee personnel files and payroll records, deductions, direct deposits, and tax information.
  • Ensure compliance with Prevailing Wage and Davis-Bacon Act requirements for applicable projects.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in year-end payroll tasks, including W-2 processing and reconciliation.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with HR and Accounting departments to ensure accurate payroll reporting and financial posting including processing GL account entries.
  • Perform employment verifications and unemployment reporting.
  • Stay current with changes in payroll laws and regulations, particularly those affecting public works and government contracts.

 

Required:

  • 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state environment
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, laws, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in payroll software (ADP or equivalent)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Prevailing Wage regulations and certified payroll reporting

 

Education:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred

 

Part time work hours will be considered for those seeking a part time role.
