What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day:
- Model ductwork and HVAC equipment in Revit – Build it virtually and work closely with the Project Manager to ensure specs and submittals are accurate.
- Coordinate with other trades - Work alongside other trades in GC meetings, making sure your voice is heard and respected.
- Push designs to the shop for fabrication - Partner with shop staff to confirm constructability.
- Create shop drawings – Work with Field Foreman to plan job sequencing.

- Work together, in person – This role is in-office, giving you the chance to stay connected with the team and projects every day.
- Tech-focused – You’ll spend about 90% of your day working in Revit and other software to bring projects to life.
- Team Communication – Strong communication is key in staying in sync with Project Managers, Field Foreman and Shop Staff.
JOB PURPOSE
The Sheet Metal Detailer supports project success by producing accurate HVAC Sheet Metal drawings, coordinating fabrication and installation details and ensuring effective alignment from design through construction. Performs related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Using CAD/BIM software, prepare accurate 3-D models and design drawings from engineering markups or notes for construction purposes.
- Generate shop drawings and fabrication tickets to guide prefabrication.
- Ensures all details conform to project specifications, industry codes (SMACNA, ASHRAE) and company standards.
- Coordinate with engineering and other trades to ensure proper integration.
- Review sketches, notes and supporting materials to determine the most effective approach for producing accurate drawings.
- Accurate daily time and equipment reporting
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years of relevant experience, a plus
- Strong knowledge of HVAC sheet metal design, layout, and construction, required
- Functional knowledge of AutoCAD MEP, Revit, Navisworks and Microsoft Office Suite, a plus
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- UA Local 45 member in good standing
