The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician provides technical support to construction and field operations in the instrumentation, electrical and analyzer fields.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, and calibrates wide variety of midstream instrumentation such as, but not limited to, flow meters, transmitters, sensors, analyzers, data loggers, programmable logic controller (PLCs), distributive control system (DCS).
- Performs calibration of instruments with accuracy and precision in accordance with established procedures.
- Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment such as, but not limited to, motor control centers, generators, transformers, switches, relays, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, variable frequency drive (VFD), power distribution center (PDCs), uninterrupted power source (UPS).
- Installs, operates, calibrates, and maintains process gas sampling and analytical equipment – including gas chromatographs, oxygen, carbon dioxide and moisture analyzers.
- Gains knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical components and the operation of electrical transmission and distribution networks.
- Communicates with other employees and contractors about equipment, control or system changes or problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Possess a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
- Aware of environmental factors such as temperature, vibration, noise affecting calibration.
- Must be able to use software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Understands software programs related to instrumentation, electrical and analyzer equipment.
- Strong familiarity with control systems and instrumentation.
- Ability to perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks.
- Willingness and drive to learn tasks at hand.
- Good, clear, concise, and thorough written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using computer systems for monitoring plant operations.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
- Effective time management to prioritize tasks and efficiently handle workload.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of industrial instrumentation and electrical experience in construction, maintenance, or design
Certifications:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands and Hazard for Field Employees:
This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
