Job Purpose or Summary:
The Pipefitter is responsible for fitting, welding, grinding, and polishing work as assigned by the Shop Leads or Production Manager. They are to adhere to all KPGNA quality policies, work instructions and safety policies. Engagement in Continuous Improvement and Lean Initiatives is also required. The Pipefitter works through a detailed job Skills Matrix, providing advancement, accountability, and personal growth.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently, layout, fit, weld and finish components per drawing.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing and P&ID drawings.
- Develop advanced skills and competency from the Skills Matrix.
- Understand sanitary manufacturing procedures and requirements for fabrication.
- Assist in developing methods and procedures for improving processes.
- Train newer team members as required in the Skills Matrix.
- Safe use of Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) and other manufacturing equipment.
- Accurate Use of Time-Keeping System.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Advanced education or welding certification preferred.
Experience/Training: 3+ years of experience with GTAW and GMAW welding processes. Experience in pipefitting and stainless-steel manufacturing in an AWS or ASME environment.
Professional Skills
- Knowledge of metric and standard measurement systems.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow written instructions are required.

Physical / Working Demands
- Generally good working conditions in a manufacturing plant. Moderate physical effort including frequent standing, walking, working off ladders/scaffolding above 4 ft in height, and occasional exposure to high noise levels is required. During the summer months, exposure to heat and humidity may occur. Lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling of objects weighing 30-50 pounds (45%). Manual dexterity and typing is required (20%). Stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching is required (35%). Noise levels in work areas may fluctuate from 82 to 110 decibels.
- Equipment use includes calculator, measuring devices, hand tools, and welders. Overhead crane use may be required.
- Ability to understand both spoken and written directions and good vision required.
- Personal protective equipment required includes protective toed safety shoes and safety glasses with side shields.
- Appropriate OSHA safety training is required.
- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all safety and environmental policies/procedures. Each employee is to place environment, health and safety requirements as the first priority in the performance of their work duties. An employee is responsible for notifying their immediate supervisor of a violation or deficiency in working conditions and for recommending corrective measures, if possible.
