Consumer Lender – Steamboat, CO Branch
Spanish Speaking highly preferred.
Summary of Duties: The primary responsibility of the Junior Consumer Lender position is managing, growing, and monitoring a consumer loan portfolio that meets and/or exceeds goals of the Lender and Bank. The loan products include but are not limited to: Portfolio mortgage loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, lot loans, bridge loans, overdraft lines of credit, vehicle loans, mobile home loans, and various other consumer products.
$65,000 per year, depending on experience.

Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a consumer loan portfolio, including the following:
- Accept and process new loan applications
- Discuss/consult with customers regarding the various loan products, underwriting requirements, understanding their credit bureaus, etc.
- Approve loans within appropriate authority level
- Prepare loan presentations and present to supervising officer or Directors’ Loan Committee as appropriate
- Appropriately communicate and document loan denials
- Ensure all existing and new loans and loan denials comply with all government and internal compliance rules, policies, and regulations.
- Monitor compliance on existing loan agreements
- Effectively manage and grow existing consumer loan and deposit portfolio
- Review and approve loan documents for finalization, and review loan documentation checklist(s) prior to loan closings
- Successfully close new, modified and renewed loans
- Review loan files for accuracy and completeness
- Monitor and take appropriate action with past due credits and work-out relationships; proactively identify and address issues to mitigate potential future risk
- Work with other Bank officers/staff as necessary to provide desired/recommended loan/deposit products to customers.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Be active and involved and seek out relevant volunteer roles in the community
- Solicit new business via personal visits, phone calls, and community involvement
- Actively and positively represent the Bank at community and private events during and after business hours
- Ensure that the Bank and Loan Department meet or exceed Audit and Government Compliance Requirements for Credit Quality, Loan Administration, and other exams, each and every time
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and bank loan policies.
- Complete compliance coursework selected for position by the Compliance Department on time twice per year
- Complete at least one continuing education course outside of the bank on an annual basis
- BSA Responsibilities: Compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and the USA PATRIOT Act including identifying and reporting suspicious trends and activities to the BSA Officer
- Maintain a clean work area. Desk and office surfaces are to be cleared every evening with appropriate computer log off/ shut down for security and cleaning purposes. During the day any customer information will be hidden at all times when away from the desk and computer logged off for security. In addition, assists with cleanliness and general upkeep and presentation of Bank and department public areas.
- Other tasks, duties, projects or analysis as determined by Supervising Officer, Officers, Executive Management, or President.
Customer Service:
- Work with all previous, existing and prospective employees, vendors, customers, directors, and shareholders in a courteous, efficient, and expedient manner.
- Answer telephone calls within two rings, transferring or servicing the customer if possible. When answering the phone, speaks with a smile, identifying the Bank and self.
- Greet and acknowledge all customers in all Bank work areas; direct customers to appropriate areas of Bank; and announce customers to Officers or appropriate team member(s).
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a lending environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related business field is preferred and encouraged but not required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred and encouraged but not required.
- Strong financial analysis and/or finance/accounting background and skills.
- Possess the ability to pass a background check conducted by the FBI, and to obtain a NMLS number prior to originating any NMLS covered loans. All YVB lenders are considered Mortgage Loan Originators (MLO), and are therefore required to be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with the public and co-workers.
- Has computer skills including sufficient/detailed knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and General Ledger accounting, and the ability to quickly learn other proprietary or bank-specific programs and models
- Able to understand and abide by all Bank policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
- Able to maintain customer confidentiality.
- Effectively listens to customers and is able to discern the customers’ needs.
- Constantly aware of surroundings and activities taking place nearby.
- Demonstrate the initiative to solve problems, ability to express a sound opinion & agreeably understand or present another viewpoint
- Demonstrate willingness to work periodically inconsistent or extended schedules when necessary to meet deadlines
- Possess strong organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, and oral & written communication skills
- Possess strong customer service, relationship and ability/desire to attain business development skills
- Possess valid Colorado or other authorized driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Must have transportation and vehicle insurance sufficient for frequent travel to client, training or construction locations
- Display professional/mature judgment and style and takes ownership of personal performance and development
