Position Summary
The Part-Time Groundskeeper plays an essential role in maintaining clean, safe, and attractive outdoor spaces. This role includes general landscaping and groundskeeping duties such as mowing, trimming, weed removal, and debris clean-up. The Groundskeeper works under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and may work alongside individuals with disabilities to support their participation in meaningful work activities. This position is not supervisory but requires a collaborative, dependable, and safety-conscious individual who takes pride in high-quality outdoor maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, and general clean-up
- Operate equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and basic hand tools
- Load and unload equipment and materials as needed for daily tasks
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times,
- Follow instructions from the Maintenance Supervisor regarding daily work tasks and site expectations
- Assist in identifying and reporting safety hazards or maintenance needs
- Support team efforts in promoting a positive, inclusive work environment
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
- Wear appropriate safety attire/Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for each task.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least one (1) year of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance
- Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 to 100 lbs regularly and perform strenuous outdoor work
- Valid driver’s license and insurable under PDI’s vehicle policy (if driving required)
- Must pass a pre-employment background and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working alongside individuals with disabilities
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Knowledge of safe chemical and tool handling in landscaping

Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role is performed outdoors and involves exposure to a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, rain, wind, and dust. The Groundskeeper must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Bend, kneel, lift, and carry equipment
- Use hands and arms to handle tools and materials
- Occasionally work on uneven terrain or slopes
- Wear safety equipment such as gloves, boots, hearing protection, and eye protection
Travel
- Minimal; occasional local travel to and from job sites using PDI transportation or personal vehicle (if approved and applicable).
