EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Ensure timely contact with members who have delinquent loans and negative accounts to inquire about repayment intent and document conversations electronically. Provide financial counseling to members who request assistance. Actively look for alternative solutions to member financial difficulties and make proper recommendations. 

 

Analyze the financial situation of delinquent borrowers; take action to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful. Monitor repossessions, coordinate sale of collateral and track deficiency balances. Maintain up to date information on all repossessions on the system. Process title work for repossessions. 

 

Responsible for processing garnishments, levies, bankruptcy cases, charge-offs, and actively work recoveries. Represent the credit union in small claims court for judgements against debtors. File garnishment paperwork with courts on debtors to serve employers and bank accounts. Turn over charged off shares/loans to collection agency when applicable. Report and update all charged off share accounts to ChexSystems. Upload CUDC charge offs to the system. 

 

Maintain deceased member accounts/loans and communicate with deceased member’s family or representative with empathy and sympathy. Process Debt Protection, GAP, total loss, Horsepower, and collateral protection claims.

 

Recommend loan workouts, modifications & TDRs (Troubled Debt Restructure) as necessary.

 

Monitor and respond to credit bureau disputes and confirm the accuracy of the report. 

 

Responsible for compliance with the Bank Secrecy and Anti Money Laundering Acts including monitoring for such illegal activity as it applies to this position. 

Requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of bankruptcy laws, garnishment rules, UCC (Uniformed Commercial Code) laws and all other federal and state collection laws. 

Ensure collection activity is always within credit union policy and all relevant regulations. 

 

 Performs other duties as assigned or required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Knowledge of applicable credit union rules, ordinances, codes, regulations, administrative orders, case law and other governing rules and regulations. 
  • Knowledge of the Credit Union’s policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of the principles of file and records management. 
  • Knowledge of the principles of customer service.
  • Knowledge of the legal terminology, court, and administrative review/resolution process.
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands. 
  • Skill in working within deadlines to complete projects and assignments. 
  • Skill in assessing, analyzing, identifying, and recommending solutions to problems.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, other UniWyo FCU employees, representatives from other credit unions, general public and/or others having business with UniWyo FCU.  
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software and operating systems/applications.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

An associate degree in banking, business, finance, or closely related field AND two (2) years of relevant finance, banking, or closely related experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Must be proficient in word processing and current spreadsheet software.

May be required to move and/or transport heavy, bulky supplies, materials and/or other items weighing up to 40 pounds.

May be exposed to potential physical harm and infectious diseases.

May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.
