Position Summary
The Fleet & Facilities Manager is responsible for leading the Fleet and Facility Department in all aspects of Tiger Sanitation’s fleet and facilities maintenance operations across multiple locations. This leadership role is accountable for developing and managing department personnel, coordinating repair and maintenance logistics, evaluating and optimizing the use of systems and diagnostic platforms, and ensuring safety, regulatory compliance and operational excellence. The Fleet and Facilities Manager ensures effective and efficient workflows, inventory management, and maintains highest levels of quality control to reduced fleet downtime, maximize fleet performance and to create a high-functioning maintenance culture aligned with Tiger Sanitation’s Core Values.
Essential Functions
Leadership & Personnel Management
- Direct and support fleet and facility supervisors, leads, technicians, and administrative staff across two operational sites.
- Ensure effective scheduling, resource allocation, staffing levels, and technician productivity to ensure optimal coverage and performance.
- Ensure regular coaching, performance evaluations, safety observations, and corrective actions are in alignment with Tiger’s standards.
- Promote and maintain a positive work environment that fosters open communication channels, respect, accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Operations & Logistics
- Develop, evaluate, maintain or modify effective programs for preventative maintenance (PM), scheduled and unscheduled repairs, and inspections to minimize vehicle downtime and meet operational deadlines.
- Ensure effective Quality Control Inspection (QCI) program to ensure high-quality, cost-effective PM and repair work order completion to minimize road calls, down time and premature failure.
- Ensure effective parts inventory control and procurement in collaboration with vendors and procurement staff.
- Maintain vehicle rotation schedules and readiness for both day and night operations across assigned locations.
Systems Management
- Lead, administer and oversee the use of digital maintenance platforms including Fleetio, Samsara, Tech Tools, and additional diagnostic and compliance systems.
- Analyze system data to identify performance trends, monitor KPIs (e.g., PM compliance, downtime, technician efficiency), and drive data-informed decisions.
- Lead and ensure effective system training for new users and ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed.
Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure effective and comprehensive site audits and shop inspections to verify proactive adherence to OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and internal standards. Make recommendations and execute corrective actions plan when appropriate.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of DVIRs, work orders, repair histories, and compliance reports.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions in response to identified deficiencies or incident investigations.
Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as the primary liaison between maintenance and operations teams to ensure service readiness and timely updates on vehicle availability.
- Provide regular reports to the General Manager regarding performance metrics, staffing and resource needs, repair trends, and compliance status.
- Participate in interdepartmental planning, budgeting, and strategic improvement initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience managing cross-location teams and mentoring supervisors or lead technicians.
- Deep understanding of fleet maintenance processes, logistics coordination, and repair operations.
- High proficiency with software platforms including Fleetio, Samsara, Tech Tools, diagnostic systems, and other fleet management technologies.
- Ability to interpret performance data and apply insights to optimize shop operations and personnel deployment.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, FMCSA) and industry safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop team members, resolve conflicts, and enforce accountability with fairness and consistency.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and influence positive change.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities in a dynamic fleet environment.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or vocational/technical certification in automotive, diesel, or fleet management preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of fleet maintenance experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role in the waste industry managing fleets, teams and systems.
- Experience overseeing operations at multiple sites strongly preferred.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License required.

Working Conditions
- Primarily based in shop and outdoor environments with exposure to weather conditions, noise, and mechanical equipment.
- Requires regular travel between locations and frequent physical activity, including standing, climbing, lifting, and walking.
- May involve occasional after-hours or weekend support to maintain service continuity.
