We are seeking a contract Home Study Assessor to join our NYAP Lubbock, TX team!
This contractor position is for the licensing team and would be solely responsible for writing home studies.
Hours and days for the role are flexible.
Position Summary
NYAP is seeking an individual to work subcontract with our agency to complete Foster, adoption, and kinship home assessments for potential families who want to be changemakers in a child’s life.
Responsibilities
- Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s Mission, Values and Philosophies.
- The Home Study Writer will be responsible for conducting comprehensive home studies for prospective foster parents, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and assessing the suitability of the home environment.
- Conduct thorough home visits and interviews with prospective foster parents.
- Assess the physical and emotional environment of the prospective foster home.
- Gather relevant information through interviews, background checks, and reference checks.
- Prepare detailed and accurate home study reports in accordance with organization guidelines and state regulations.
- Collaborate with social workers and other team members to gather additional information as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism throughout the home study process
- Maintain professional boundaries, conduct and confidentiality and other governmental laws and regulations, agency policy and licensure ethics.
- Able to effectively meet deadlines.
- Provide recommendations and feedback to the organization regarding the suitability of prospective foster parents.
- Stay informed about changes in relevant regulations and best practices related to foster care
- Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Contractor responsibilities vary and are outlined in a signed agreement between the independent contractor and NYAP.
- Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or similar field from an accredited college or university.
- 2 years of work experience working in direct service with youth and families strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of child welfare regulations and best practices.
- Knowledgeable of foster care rules and the services provided by the National Youth Advocate Program.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with diverse individuals and families.
- Understanding and commitment to the mission and values of the NYAP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
Driving and Vehicle Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Good driving record
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability required.
