We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees.
Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000.
The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.
Job Summary
Under the direction of an assigned administrator, assist a certificated teacher, Board Certified Behavioral Analyst or Behavior Support Specialist in providing behavior intervention support. Perform a variety of support activities related to behavior management and classroom instruction of special education students. Provide instruction to individual or small groups of special needs students. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of individual education plans. Provide routine clerical support.

SELECTION & EXAMINATIONS: The selection process will consist of a competitive application screening for completeness, qualifications, and experience. Application evaluation (weighted 10%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 90%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion to be placed on the eligibility list. Final interviews for specific vacancies will be scheduled from the approved eligibility list.

Promotional/Open * The promotional group as well as the public may apply. The promotional side of the eligibility list shall take precedence when certifying eligibles.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school or equivalent; experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. Experience working with persons with severe behavior problems preferred. Licenses and other requirements: Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire. Registered Behavior Technician certificate preferred.
EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT (ESSA) FEDERAL REQUIREMENT: Degree or completion of 48 semester units from an accredited college or university or district assessment/county certificate showing compliance with ESSA are required. PROOF IS REQUIRED.
