This role is based in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Work will be office-based, five days a week. Saturday office coverage may be required on a rota basis. Occasional travel will be required.

The role in a nutshell


You will shape our presence in the US market from the outset, influencing how we execute our day one proposition and quickly grow into a regional and national leader. We will combine the entrepreneurial spirit, energy, and ambition of a ‘start-up’ with the benefits of a globally recognised heritage brand. It’s going to be a hugely exciting and fast-paced project that will be immensely rewarding for the right candidate.

 

Working closely with our Head of US Private Clients, you will be responsible for focusing on customer acquisition and delivering sales through relationship building and a level of service that is akin to the hospitality business and aligned to our Home of Collecting strategy. You will leverage your expertise, relationships, and market insight to deliver sales while ensuring that Berry Bros. & Rudd standards are maintained to the highest level, optimising customer engagement and service excellence. You will bring an entrepreneurial spirit and the flexibility to meet a variety of challenges as we drive to be a leader in the market.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to private clients, offering expert guidance and access to our full range of premium products and services.
  • Deliver exceptional, tailored service with a proactive approach to client engagement and relationship building that is akin to the hospitality business.
  • Drive significant sales growth by identifying and capitalizing on strategic opportunities within your client portfolio.
  • Cultivate long-term client partnerships through trust, expertise, and outstanding customer service.
  • Provide timely and insightful market intelligence to clients, helping them make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Lead with a consultative approach, translating passion for wine and spirits into high-value transactions.
  • Ensure seamless account management, including timely payments, order fulfilment, and exceptional follow-up.
  • Attend and contribute to exclusive private client and shop events, enhancing client engagement and expanding your professional network.
  • Play a key role in acquiring new high-value clients and converting leads into long-term partnerships.

 

What You Bring to the Role

  • Knowledge of fine wine and spirits.
  • Proven success in a high-performance sales environment.
  • Experience managing high-net-worth private clients and delivering a premium service.
  • Experience networking with high-net-worth individuals particularly key influencers like entrepreneurs, sports stars, celebrities and business leaders.

Your Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Expert relationship-building skills with a focus on trust and long-term value.
  • A deep understanding and passion for fine wine and spirits, with the ability to translate this into compelling client experiences.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify growth opportunities.
  • A strategic mindset with the agility to navigate a fast-paced, evolving market.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to be flexible and adapt to challenges as we drive to be a leader in the industry.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple high-priority accounts.
  • IT proficiency and comfort using digital tools to enhance client interactions.
  • Language skills are highly desirable, particularly fluent Spanish or Portuguese 
  • Previous experience in a hospitality role will be highly beneficial

 

Qualifications:

  • WSET Diploma preferred.
