POSITION SUMMARY - The Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day HR support for Struktol Company of America, ensuring consistent application of policies and practices across both office and production environments. This role supports recruiting, employee relations, training, benefits administration, and compliance. The HR Generalist acts as a resource for employees and managers, helping to foster a positive and productive workplace.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Partner with managers and supervisors to support staffing needs, employee relations, and workforce development.
- Manage recruiting efforts including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding for both hourly and salaried roles.
- Provide guidance on employee relations issues, including attendance, performance, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Support investigations and ensure fair, consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Administer employee benefits, leaves of absence, and other HR programs.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; update policies and practices as needed.
- Maintain HR systems and employee records.
- Assist with safety and compliance initiatives in partnership with operations leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate performance review and compensation processes.
- Support employee retention and engagement initiatives.
- Assist with development and delivery of employee training programs.
- Provide HR reporting and analytics as needed.
- Support managers in handling sensitive employee matters while maintaining confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of three years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient working with HRIS is required (ADP preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- SHRM-CP or other HR certification preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role works in both an office and manufacturing environment. The noise level is typically moderate in the office and louder on the production floor. Occasional presence in production areas is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The role requires frequent sitting and use of office equipment. Occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 20 pounds may be necessary when visiting or supporting plant operations.
