Duties and Responsibilities
- *Coordinates the UH Manoa Student Conduct Code Procedure in accordance with the UH Systemwide Student Conduct Code by overseeing communication with involved parties such as complainants, respondents, witnesses, and others.
- *Leads the administration and training of the Student Conduct Appellate Board, ensuring members understand procedural fairness, decision-making standards, and current policies.
- *Executes the student conduct process for reported violations of the Student Conduct Code, including charging, conducting investigations, rendering decisions, and imposing sanctions as appropriate.
- *Manages, oversees, and administers the training program for various UH Manoa constituents on Student Conduct policies and procedures.
- *Develops and implements educational and restorative sanctioning plans in alignment with student development theory and trauma-informed care.
- Serves as a liaison to key campus partners alongside the Director, including the Office of Title IX, Student Housing Services, Counseling & Student Development Center, to ensure coordinated student support and accountability.
- *Assists Director with workshops and trainings regarding Student Conduct Code, including but not limited to: classroom management, de-escalation, and academic integrity etc.
- Collaborates on campus-wide initiatives that promote student rights, responsibilities, and a culture of integrity through workshops, tabling events, and educational campaigns.
- Responsible for overseeing the creation and updating of informational materials, marketing materials for the Office of Student Conduct (e.g., quarterly newsletters, outreach materials).
- Responsible for managing and updating the Office of Student Conduct website and assisting in content development.
- Participates in ongoing professional development and remains informed on current trends in student conduct, compliance, and higher education law.
- *Conducts fact-finding investigations as assigned on behalf of the University in compliance with University, state, and federal regulations (e.g., workplace violence, discrimination, Title IX, etc.).
- Serves as a secondary representative for student conduct on the Behavioral Intervention Team when appropriate.
- *Counsels and advises students on grievances and policies, such as the Student Conduct Code, and informs students of available options for pursuing University-related processes and procedures.
- *Provides support and direct service to students, staff, faculty, administration, and community members who require assistance and information regarding complaints, behavioral issues, grievances, student rights and responsibilities, and other matters related to student conduct and concerns.
- *Utilizes the student conduct database for the University for documentation, reporting, and case tracking.
- *Executes special student conduct and concern-related projects as assigned by the Director and/or Dean of Students.
- *Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising student staff.
- *Provides guidance and recommendations on student conduct and concern matters to the Director and/or Dean of Students.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Counseling, Communication, Peace and Conflict Resolution, or related field, and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for students' rights and responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in the area of students' rights and responsibilities as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles, and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and theories and systems associated with students' rights and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative, and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders, and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software.
- If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Knowledge of student conduct due process rights and best practices.
- Knowledge of college student development theory and restorative justice practices.
- Ability to manage sensitive information and files containing confidential student information.
- Ability to interpret and apply policy provisions to situations consistently.
- Experience conducting investigations (informal and formal complaints).
- Experience advising students on university processes and procedures.
- Experience in prioritizing and handling multiple tasks.
- Ability to exercise extreme tact, diplomacy, initiative, sound judgment, and critical thinking.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master's degree in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, Student Affairs/Higher Education, or other related field.
- Experience with the University of Hawaii programs, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to apply trauma-informed, student-centered, and culturally grounded approaches to student accountability.
- Demonstrated organization and project coordination skills.
