Job Summary
The Auxiliary Instrumentation and Electrical (I/E) Technician supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems within a tobacco primary manufacturing facility. This entry-level position works under the direction of experienced technicians to help ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently while learning foundational skills in electrical and instrumentation work.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with Maintenance and Repairs:
- Support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and electrical systems, including sensors, motors, control panels, and HMI screens.
- Help perform routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance tasks under supervision.
- Assist in calibration activities to ensure accurate readings and equipment performance.
System Monitoring and Troubleshooting Support:
- Help monitor system performance and report potential issues to senior technicians.
- Provide basic assistance in diagnosing and repairing faults under guidance.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and plant regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, parts, and work areas.
Installation Support:
- Assist in installing and commissioning new electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Help transport, set up, and organize tools, parts, and equipment for project work.
Documentation:
- Maintain simple logs of work performed and materials used.
- Support record-keeping related to maintenance and repairs as directed.
Teamwork and Learning:
- Work closely with experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience.
- Participate in training opportunities to develop technical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred).
- Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Willingness to learn and work in an industrial environment.
- Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and contribute to a team environment
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a tobacco primary manufacturing facility.
- Exposure to high temperatures, loud noises and industrial equipment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
