 Job Summary

The HIM Technician (Entry Level) is responsible for supporting daily medical records activities, including filing, scanning, indexing, chart assembly, and release of information under supervision. This role helps ensure timely availability of patient records and supports compliance with privacy regulations.

Job Essentials

• Scans and indexes documents into the electronic medical record system accurately and timely.
• Files loose paper records and assemble discharged patient charts.
• Maintains confidentiality of protected health information at all times.
• Supports the release of information team in processing authorized record requests.
• Responds to internal requests for chart access or information under direction of supervisor.
• Performs clerical duties such as faxing, mailing, and organizing charts.
• Participates in cross-training and professional development.

• Prior HIM, clerical, or healthcare experience preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of or enrollment in a Health Information Technology or Medical Office program preferred.
