A respected multi?disciplinary architecture & engineering firm based in New York City, is seeking a Team Leader, Bridge Inspection to join their team in New York, NY (on-site plus fieldwork). This is a hands on leadership role where you’ll oversee routine bridge condition assessments and uplift the growth of junior inspectors, all while ensuring high quality, standards driven deliverables.
What You’ll Do as the Team Leader, Bridge Inspection:
- Lead and conduct bridge and structural inspections, accurately documenting findings using agency tools and reporting formats.
- Coordinate with an Assistant Team Leader to manage inspection schedules and ensure timely completion.
- Mentor and guide junior inspection staff, fostering skill development and collaboration.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and field personnel.
Must Haves as the Team Leader, Bridge Inspection:
- Active NYS or NJ Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to transfer between states.
- Demonstrated recent experience inspecting bridges for agencies such as NYSDOT, TBTA, Port Authority (NY & NJ), NYSTA, NJDOT, or similar.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to produce clear, concise technical reports.
- Completion of NHI Bridge Safety Inspection Course or equivalent (e.g., NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Workshop).
- Valid driver’s license and comfortable traveling to various inspection sites.
- Physically able to perform field tasks (climbing, ladder use, lifting up to ~50 lbs, working around traffic and in varied weather).
Nice to Haves as the Team Leader, Bridge Inspection:
- Track record of mentoring or managing small inspection teams.
- Familiarity with transportation agencies’ inspection procedures or software.
- Experience balancing office documentation with field responsibilities.
