Our team is expanding and looking to add a Controls Engineer. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector.
The Controls Engineer will directly work on developing/designing/troubleshooting electrical/pneumatic/and hydraulic control systems on existing and new machinery. Development of schematics, sequence of operations, and programming from concept to commissioning will be required. Other responsibilities include:
- Design/Development/Troubleshooting and implementation of electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic systems
- Identifying new technologies and components
- Hands-on troubleshooting and improvement of automated painting line, controls, lifts, conveyors, TNV, chiller, etc
- Availability and willingness for afterhours support of downtime in critical cells
- Ability to train coworkers in industrial controls
- Improvement of existing control systems on individual machines and work cells
- Troubleshooting and repair to electrical systems, PLC, vision, robotics, etc
- Work with engineers to develop poke-yoke sensors and solutions resulting from corrective actions
- Other duties as assigned
To be a qualified candidate you must have the following:
- A strong background in PLC programming, relay logic, and hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, emphasizing troubleshooting. Industrial controls refer to the electrical or fluid power systems designed into a machine to provide monitoring, detection, motion, automated processes, temperature handling, error handling, and systematic handling of inputs and outputs to result in an action. Examples of devices used are photoelectric sensors, vision sensors, variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, mechanical switches, human-machine interface panels, robots, and various safety devices.
- 10+ years of experience with PLC programming, relay logic, and electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic troubleshooting;
- PLC’s primarily used are Allen-Bradley and Siemens;
- Ability to design hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics from concept to completion;
- Robotics experience preferred, Kuka, Fanuc, Yaskawa;
Key to being successful in this role:
- Preference will be given to applicants possessing robotic experience, i.e., the ability to write complete programs and design cells.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet applications;
- Ability to work non-traditional work hours as needed
