About the Department

Under general supervision of the Director of Adult Probation and specific supervision of the assigned Assistant Director and Unit Manager, performs work of moderate difficulty in the Adult Probation Department.   This work involves clerical tasks, data collection, interaction with clients, verbal and written communication with the courts, attorneys and probation officers, public service duties, completion of record checks, and assisting probation officers. May involve testifying in court. 

Hours of Work

Generally, Monday-Friday 8-hour days. 

Some weekends or evenings may be required for special projects. 

Position Duties

  • Enter data in appropriate case management systems.
  • Collect DNA
  • Take pictures of clients as needed.
  • Run LEADS checking for warrants or any outstanding issues.
  • Check status of conditions, send violations to Unit Manager as needed.
  • Order juvenile case(s) or Orders of Protection.
  • Assist with drug testing; deliver urine samples if the lab clerk is unavailable.
  • May assist with Spanish interpretation.
  • Assign clients public service sites and monitor public service employment hours.
  • Perform monthly CRIMS checks; request updates via ICOTS.
  • Assist Probation Officers as needed.
  • Manage Warrant Caseload

Minimum Qualifications

  • Good communication skills, including oral and written skills.
  • Ability to plan and problem solve.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet-based programs
  • Ability to collect and understand data and statistics.
  • Ability to work with clients sentenced to probation.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Requires possession of a valid driver’s license, supplemented by a satisfactory driving record.

Other Qualifications 

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must pass a physical examination

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
