Role Overview
As part of the Group HR Operations team on the HR side you'll work closely with local HR Business Partners, studio leadership and the wider global People function. You’ll oversee regional compliance, payroll, benefits and reporting, be the primary HR point of contact for Canada employees as well as manage and develop our HR Operations and Payroll team members in the region.
You will also be responsible for management oversight of Office Operations for our North America Offices; Toronto, Canada and Richardson, Texas ensuring world-class office facilities provision.
The ideal person for this role will bring a strong background in HR and Operations management with excellent knowledge of North American employment law, experience managing best in class office environments and a proactive, people-first mindset.
The role will be based from our Toronto, Ontario office.
- Ensure a user-focused employee experience that puts people at the heart of everything we do
- Act as a point of contact for employee concerns, resolving workplace issues and promoting a positive culture
- Manage employee engagement initiatives and conduct investigations as needed
- Oversee employment compliance and legal matters across the US and Canada
- Ensure completion and reporting of all required state and federal compliance training
- Own local payroll administration and signoff, aligned with group processes
- Manage supplier relationships with HR service providers, including benefits and retirement plans
- Oversee renewals, elections, and enrolments for benefits and 401k/retirement provisions
- Partner with Finance on budgeting, reporting, and ensuring data accuracy
- Provide regional HR analytics and insights to the leadership team
- Localise and implement group HR strategies for maximum regional impact
- Support delivery of projects, events, meetings, and activities
- Contribute to planning and evaluation of training programmes and resources
- Lead, mentor, and develop local HR and Office Operations team members
- Act as an escalation point for office related issues for North America offices
- Working with the local office teams, create initiatives to promote a positive workplace culture including supporting the team managing employee engagement initiatives and ensuring best in class facilities
- Lead office space planning and ensure the infrastructure setups across the offices meets the needs of the business
- Lease management including renegotiation of services and overseeing the procurement of new office space where needed
- 3rd party contractor procurement, management and escalation point
- Ensure all of the offices and work setups are compliant with local and international health and safety standards
- Oversee development and implementation of operational policies and procedures
- Manage local office team to ensure all in-house or off-site activities, including parties, events and conferences are appropriately organized and executed
- Build strong partnerships with studio teams to align HR and Office Operations with business needs
- Support broader initiatives as needed
Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven HR and office operations experience
- Experience working across both US and Canadian employment landscapes
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices in North America
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and HR tools
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- A user-centred, agile approach with strong organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in process improvement and change management
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
