- Promote collaborative decision-making and consensus among groups of individuals with diverse interests, values, and needs and inspire and support staff in carrying out District and Department goals.
- Participate as a member or facilitator in meetings, workshops, and seminars that may involve a wide range of issues such as goals attainment, problem resolution, and District operations for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job duties.
- Recommend solutions to a wide variety of issues for the purpose of addressing the short and long-term needs of the District.
- Communicate with classroom teachers regarding student needs and instructional plans.
- Work with students individually or in small groups in a variety of content areas/subjects for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives, leading discussions, and implementing individual educational plans.
- Assist staff, as appropriate, in the design, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs and student progress.
- Monitors and documents student behavior and progress and maintains communication with classroom staff and other staff.
- Models appropriate behavior for students and assists in student supervision and discipline.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, parents, and students.

REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following requirements to move forward in the screening process:
Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; and
(a) Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service paraeducator assessment; or
(b) Hold an associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
(c) Have earned seventy-two quarter credits or forty-eight semester credits at the one hundred level or higher at an accredited college or univertiy; or
(d) Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
SUMMARY: The CTE Paraeducator works under the direction of certificated staff to provide instructional or other appropriate services, such as safety, to students.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and Paraeducator requirements as listed by the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB).
Preferred: Associate of Arts Degree in a related field.
Experience: Successful experience working with students in a school setting preferred.
Substitutions: Any combination of experience and/or training which provides the applicant with requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work and that meets applicable state and federal requirements.
REQUIRED LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must hold and be able to maintain a valid first aid and CPR certification. Incumbents are required to hold and maintain a valid State of Washington Driver’s license.
REPORTS TO: The CTE Director or designee.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work Year: 180 days per year plus paid holidays that fall within the work year calendar
Hours: 6.0 hours per day plus a 30-minute duty free lunch break
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:45 am- 2:15 pm
Salary: 2025-26 PSE District Salary Schedule A*
Paraeducator: $25.16-$31.21 DOE*

EVALUATION: Performance is evaluated by the Building Principal with input from certificated staff.
