About the opportunity

The School of Psychology is currently seeking a Research Assistant who will support the Growing Minds Australia team by providing technical and operational assistance to the Program Manager of the Growing Minds Check-In (GMCI) and the broader team. The role will focus on research support for the Growing Minds Check-In program, an online tool designed for parents and young people to identify risk of mental health challenges and connect them with appropriate support. The position will also contribute to Growing Minds Australia projects when needed.

The Research Assistant will help prepare materials, coordinate research activities, support participant recruitment and user testing, assist with RCT management, and conduct data cleaning and analysis. The role requires working independently on routine tasks, with guidance available for more complex issues. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities to meet project deadlines are essential.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • supports the design and implementation of research protocols, ensuring adherence to standards and providing advice on relevant regulations and procedures

  • conducts data collection, statistical analysis, literature reviews, and maintains accurate research documentation

  • assists with specific research tasks including experiments, assessments, and liaising with clinical or academic collaborators

  • provides administrative and technical research support, including managing records, scheduling participants, and coordinating study logistics

  • contributes to the preparation of research publications and ethics applications, ensuring compliance with ethical and WHS guidelines

  • undertakes additional research-related tasks and projects as directed by senior staff.

About you

  • holds a tertiary qualification with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and bring experience working in research-intensive environments

  • possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with strong conflict resolution abilities, sound judgement, and a high level of discretion

  • have proven experience in data analysis and reporting using statistical tools, along with expertise in conducting literary searches and preparing reviews

  • skilled in designing and managing data pipelines, transforming and integrating complex datasets, and using ETL/ELT and other modern data integration technologies

  • bring strong technical capabilities in cloud data platforms, cyber security, network management, and workflow automation

  • demonstrate a sound understanding of WHS policies and laboratory safety procedures, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and managing competing priorities.
