About the Carer Gateway Program
Wellways Australia is the first point of contact for all Australian Government Carer Gateway funded services across Queensland, aiming to help Carers access practical information and advice and connect with services in their local area.

Carer supports and services will be delivered using a network of local Carer Gateway regional service providers Carers and those who provide a caring role to someone in their life who has a disability, mental health issue, chronic health condition, terminal illness or are frail-aged.

Your new role
Utilise your amazing communication skills by facilitating the intake, assessment and planning services for carers accessing support provided by the Carer Gateway within Queensland. The objective of the role is work with carers over the phone to access information, support and referrals relevant to their caring role.

With the support of the Program Manager you will endeavour to support carers with a high level of customer service ensuring carers are listened to with patience and non-judgement.  You will work with carers to establish and implement agreed action plans whilst creating an environment which Carers will find welcoming, real and inclusive.

Pre-employment compliance requirements

  • Qualifications and/or experience working in community services, allied health or carer/family peer positions
  • Highly desirable if you can speak Arabic or Vietnamese.
  • Appropriate IT skills
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check (within the last 12 months)
  • Working with Children’s Check/Blue Card
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Right to Work within Australia
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module Certificate – free online course
  • Available to participate in out of hours activities as required to undertake the requirements of the role
