Job Description
Purpose
The History and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Secondary Teacher will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging and rigorous lessons in History and TOK for secondary school students. The teacher will foster critical thinking, inquiry, and a deep understanding of historical contexts and knowledge theory, aligned with the IB curriculum.
Reporting to: Head of Secondary
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement the History and TOK curriculum in accordance with IB standards
Plan and deliver lessons that engage students and promote inquiry-based learning
Assess and provide constructive feedback on student progress
Support student development in critical thinking and global awareness
Participate in school events, professional development, and collaborative meetings
Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior
Required Skills/Abilities
Qualifications & Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in History, Education, or a related field (required)
IB teaching certification or experience preferred
Strong proficiency in English (required)
Experience in teaching Theory of Knowledge is highly desirable
Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
Solid knowledge of History curriculum and Theory of Knowledge concept.
Experience teaching secondary school students, preferably in an IB setting
Ability to create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
Skilled in developing lesson plans, assessments, and differentiated instruction
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues
Ability to foster critical thinking, inquiry, and reflective learning
