Position                   FOOD STORE CLERK I (Part Time)

Responsibilities     

1.  Provide customer service to customers, by assisting customers, and providing information and product knowledge, which is maintained through being dependable for all shifts. 

2.  Provide packaging of customer purchases, and carry out service of purchases in an efficient, professional manner, and operation of Point of Sale System when necessary.

3.  To stock food merchandise as per Southland Co-op policies and procedures.

4.  To perform housekeeping duties, including but not limited to cleaning and facing shelves.

5.  To ensure proper meat preparation is achieved and maintained, such as traying, wrapping and pricing to meat department standards.

6.  To ensure that the fresh case, frozen case, smoked case and all spot island merchandisers are filled and merchandised to meat department standards.

7.  To assist in the preparation of in-store made products such as sausage and hamburger.

8.  To perform receiving, counting and sorting of merchandise duties as directed.

9.  To operate and maintain equipment in a safe and responsible manner.

10. To adhere to all Southland Co-op policies and procedures related to the maintenance, sanitation and safety of all association assets.

11.  To be responsible for receiving, inspecting and storage of produce when assigned.  Prepare, assemble and display all produce related inventories including value added products.           

Requirements                     

1. Experience in procurement of merchandise.

2. Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, outgoing and energetic personality.

3. Excellent customer service skills.

4. Ability to solve problems.

5. Physically able to do heavy lifting, climbing, kneeling.

7. Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

7. Willingness to further knowledge through training.
