The International Division leads our strategy for international engagement, working collaboratively across the FCA to ensure the organisation delivers on its international priorities. Our work includes taking forward the FCA’s strategic relationship with global standard setting bodies (GSSBs), working in collaboration with colleagues across the FCA and UK authorities more broadly and engaging directly with GSSB and other regulatory counterparts.
The Global Institutions (GI) Team helps set, advise and deliver on the FCA’s strategic engagement with the GSSBs, enhancing the FCA’s capacity to meet its statutory and strategic objectives through high-quality international engagement, using a range of influencing tools and techniques. GI also leads on innovation and NBFI thematic priorities, including AI, crypto, financial stability and leverage in NBFIs, working closely with colleagues across the division and the wider FCA.
What will you be doing?
Lead and manage a high-performing team in a fast-paced, evolving environment—driving motivation, clarity and impactful delivery across international priorities through devising influencing strategies and international engagement
Shape divisional strategy as part of the Senior Management Team—collaborating with the Director, Heads of Department and fellow leaders to set direction and priorities
Oversee global engagement with key standard-setting bodies (FSB, IOSCO, IMF) and multilateral institutions—ensuring the FCA’s voice is clear and influential
Develop and implement policy and influencing strategies that advance FCA objectives internationally, working closely with senior internal and external stakeholders
Represent the FCA externally in international forums, working groups and committees—building trusted relationships with overseas regulators and institutions
Collaborate across UK authorities including the Bank of England and HM Treasury— aligning policy positions on issues of shared national and global importance

Minimum
Experience of financial services and/or international policymaking
Experience in a delivery or stakeholder-focused role
Proven management capabilities and leadership skills
Essential
Strong strategic ability, delivery skills, political acumen and sound judgement, with the ability to make reasoned decisions in circumstances of limited or inconclusive information
Sensitive management capabilities with proven ability to work inclusively and collaboratively and to deliver through others, leading and motivating colleagues across multiple projects
Excellent analytical skills and an ability to quickly identify relevant issues from a wide range of data points and analyses, making the links to other work
Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to deliver at pace and respond to external time pressures
Extensive stakeholder management skills both internally and externally – able to build deep relationships. Good negotiating skills and ability to influence and persuade with authority and credibility
Clear and confident communications style, including the ability to communicate effectively in person and to communicate issues in writing succinctly, even where issues are complex
Excellent self-management and organisational skills, delivering multiple tasks under pressure and a proven record of role modelling the FCA’s values
