Senior Database Administrator/ Engineer

A Senior Database Administrator/Engineer at Fanatics designs, implements, and maintains critical database systems which are reliable, scalable, performant, and secure.  They work across a wide range of database platforms, from on-prem SQL/Postgres/mySQL to cloud-based data warehouses and transactional data stores.  They collaborate with other teams to design solutions to meet their needs while also adhering to principals of automation, observability, and reliability.

Skills and Experience:

• 10+ years experience administering mission-critical enterprise MS SQL databases
  • Strong abilities in query tuning, configuration optimization, and resource management
• Proficiency in administration of other OLTP database systems (Postgres/mySQL)
• Knowledge of Microsoft OS, LINUX OS, VMWare, and SANs as it relates to support of database environments 
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Powershell, Python)
• Strong proficiency in various database management and monitoring tools such as:
  • Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager
  • Rubrik Cloud Data Protection
  • Qlik Replicate
  • Tanium or SCCM
  •  Big Panda, New Relic
• 5+ yrs experience administering cloud-based data platforms
  • Proficiency with AWS
  • Proficiency with AWS Redshift data warehouse, RDS
  • Experience with IAC principles and tools (GIT, Terraform)
• Ability to build strong working relationships with peers, managers and both internal and external customers
• Ability to proactively identify potential issues and propose solutions to remediate identified issues
