The Opportunity:
The Core Facility Bioinformatician will provide bioinformatics expertise and support to researchers across the institute. As a member of the established IGC Bioinformatics Analysis Core (BAC), the role involves working collaboratively with diverse research teams to develop computational workflows, analyze large-scale omics datasets, and deliver high-quality insights that drive cutting-edge biomedical discoveries.
As a Core Facility Bioinformatician, this role will play a pivotal role in enabling ground breaking research at the IGC. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of computational and experimental science, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to address fundamental questions in genetics and disease.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
The salary for this post is £41,064 to £48,822 per annum.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science (or near completion) or a closely related discipline.
- Research experience in computational biology, particularly projects generating novel insights into human or medical genomics.
- Demonstrable skills in project management, in particular the management of multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience in the analysis of high throughput biological datasets.
