The Role
The CAA is the UK’s designated aviation regulator and is responsible for a wide range of compliance monitoring functions that ensure the aviation sector meets their legally mandated obligations, while protecting people and enabling aerospace.
The Aviation Security department are looking to a number of Compliance Auditors to join our team. We will look to train and develop you towards playing an active role in keeping the public safe and secure when travelling. You will conduct observations, inspections, audits, and tests to establish whether security standards are being met, and whether rectification or enforcement action needs to be taken, where necessary. You will be sharing your findings at meetings and in reports that you create, and holding active engagements with industry members you will hold responsibility for.
Your working relationships will be with industry managers, business managers and operational staff and can be from a wide range of organisations from across the aviation sector including airports, air carriers, cargo companies and in-flight suppliers from anywhere across the UK. The role exposes Auditors to the fascinating, and widely varied aviation sector, where you will be challenged to constantly develop your expertise into becoming an expert in your field.
The role will require you to travel to different sites across the UK in line with a pre-planned schedule of work provided in advance.

- Up to 2 nights a week on average.
- Once trained, up to 4 nights away on average 5 times per year for team-based Audits or Inspections.
About You
To apply for this role, you do not need to be from an aviation or security background, and we welcome applications from all professional backgrounds. We are looking for motivated individuals who can display the following experience/skills:
- The ability to learn and apply complex information quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in English as you will be creating accurate evidence-based reports.
- Keen eye for detail, with the ability to explain information clearly.
- The ability to build rapport and effective working relationships with both a variety of stakeholders and colleagues.
- Demonstrate resilience and composure in the face of a challenge, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- You need to have a good knowledge of implementing policies and procedures and an understanding of why it’s important.
- Literate in MS office programmes.
- Willingness to work flexibly as the role will require you to travel to different sites across the UK.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
The successful applicants will need to hold, or be willing and able to obtain, security vetting to at least SC level (NB: this requires uninterrupted residency in the UK for a minimum of 5 years).

Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.

The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational and environmental considerations.
We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers.
We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office, before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028
