Role: As the local on property Catering Sales contact for customers, the Catering Sales Manager is responsible for proactively soliciting and managing business/social catering related opportunities. Handles incoming requests, manages the Sales process which includes Site inspections and then turns over opportunity to the Event Management Team. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters team work and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses excellent telephone sales skills
- Excellent selling skills and understanding of sales processes
- Knowledge of operations
- Knowledge of Marriott Lodging products, cultures and brand strategies
- Knowledge of food trends, food and beverage and menu planning
- Knowledge of contractual agreements and legal implications
- Strong customer and relationship management skills
- Effective decision-making skills
- Good negotiation skills
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect department
- Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems including SFA and Delphi
REQUIRED CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Southern Nevada Food Handling Card
- TAM card
MAJOR JOB DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Support strategies and conducts activities to drive market share, guest satisfaction and financial results
- Proactive soliciting and managing catering related opportunities
- Upsells each business opportunity to maximize revenue. Achieves individual and team sales goals to enable business success
- Responds to incoming catering opportunities
- Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include sales call, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows etc.
- Effectively manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Conducts site inspections
- Creates contracts
- Handles Group sizes of 75 & under
