Opening in early 2026, Riverside Smithfield Hospital will bring high-quality healthcare closer to home for Isle of Wight County residents.  Located on a beautifully landscaped 27-acre medical campus at 19339 Benn’s Grant Boulevard in Smithfield, the new hospital will provide modern facilities and comprehensive medical services to meet the growing needs of the community.

The 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility will offer a range of essential healthcare services including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 34 Medical/Surgical beds, 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 4 Operating Rooms.  Join our team and be a part of an exciting opportunity to shape the future of healthcare in Smithfield, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a state-of-the-art environment.

Overview
Indexes scanned documents through point-of-service (POS) workflow and then reviews committed patient care documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maintains the integrity of the electronic health record, verifies that all discharged charts have been received and acknowledges errors found within the LMR, initiating rCare submission when applicable. Monitors and works the Onbase HIM scan queues, answers the phone and assist customers as needed. The Analyst provides release of information coverage and back up coverage for other RHS facilities as needed.

What you will do

  • Indexes scanned documents through point-of-service workflow.
  • Reviews patient care documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Verifies all discharged charts have been received and acknowledges errors found within the LMR. Initiates rCare submissions when applicable.
  • Retrieves all charts of discharged patients on a daily basis from the various units and/or departments and completes Point-of-Service (POS) scanning on the units or other designated work area as applicable.
  • Monitors and works the OnBase HIM scan queues.
  • Responds to customer inquiries.
  • Provides back-up coverage for other RHS facilities as needed.


Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
  • Associates Degree, Health Information Management or related field (Preferred)


Experience

  • Less than 1 year HIMS Acute Care/Medical Office and/or Customer Service (Required)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) (Preferred)
  • Valid Drivers License (Required)

Other Requirements

  • Weekend Shifts
  • Work/Float in more than one work location
