Job Title:                  Information Systems Specialist

Primary Purpose:

Provide daily administration, technical support, and account management for a wide range of information systems and applications.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Associate’s degree preferred

Google Workspace Administrator certification strongly preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of information system concepts

Broad knowledge of computer hardware and software applications

Knowledge of various operating systems (UNIX, DOS, Windows, Macintosh)

Knowledge of software used to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing

Ability to detect and resolve technical or technology-related problems

Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and tasks

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

Technical work experience involving single sign-on administration, enterprise communications management, systems administration, and end user support

 

Experience

Prior work experience with information systems in an educational environment preferred.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Handle the day-to-day responsibilities of account management for district applications, including creation, rostering, automating, verifying and removing accounts.
  2. Assist with the administration of the district’s single sign-on solution.
  3. Manage the integration of new instructional resources into DSISD systems, coordinating with vendors and staff.
  4. Maintain and support digital platforms to ensure secure and stable operations for students and staff.
  5. Perform daily administration functions related to physical security systems such as intercom, surveillance, and door systems.
  6. Manage most day-to-day activities involving district communication tools such as Google Workspace and the enterprise phone system.
  7. Configure and maintain district 911 notification system.
  8. Lead for district intercom configuration and support.
  9. Provide the Superintendent’s Office with data extracts upon Public Information Request.
  10. Train other district staff as required.
  11. Work with Technology staff to ensure cybersecurity and data privacy best practices in all related work, especially when dealing with sensitive data.
  12. Work with Technology staff to monitor performance of information systems and troubleshoot as necessary.
  13. Maintain design, configuration and support documentation for district systems and processes.
  14. Provide application support to students, staff, and parents.

Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals; small truck or van

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over)

Environment: Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
