Overview

Seeking a compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a palliative care team. The role focuses on symptom management, psychosocial support, and goals-of-care discussions for patients with serious illnesses.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

- Conduct palliative care consultations and follow-ups in the hospital.

- Manage complex symptoms (pain, nausea, fatigue, etc.).

- Develop individualized care plans.

- Order and interpret diagnostic tests.

Communication & Collaboration

- Lead discussions on prognosis, treatment options, and patient values.

- Coordinate with primary and specialty care teams.

- Educate patients and families.

- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and case reviews.

Documentation & Administration

- Maintain accurate EHRs.

- Ensure regulatory compliance.

- Engage in quality improvement and research.

Qualifications

Education

- Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited NP or PA program.

Licensure & Certification

- Active NP or PA license in West Virginia.

- National board certification (e.g., FNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP).

- Advanced palliative care certification preferred.

- DEA license.

Experience

- Preferred background in palliative care, hospice, oncology, or related fields.

- Symptom management expertise.

- Strong communication and teamwork.

- Compassion and resilience.

- Organizational and computer proficiency.

Physical Demands

- Standing/walking for long periods.

- Occasional lifting/moving of patients/equipment.

- Adequate visual and auditory acuity.
