DIRECTOR OF FLEET MAINTENANCE GSE AT PRIMEFLIGHT
The Director of Fleet Maintenance – GSE is responsible for leading the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance team at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. This role provides strategic oversight, operational leadership, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The position is less about hands-on equipment repair and more focused on building a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will bring a proactive, customer-focused mindset and excel at influencing and collaborating across departments in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership, direction, and daily oversight of the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance team at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
- Manage and coordinate the maintenance, repair, inspection, and operation of GSE to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective performance.
- Offer technical guidance and mentorship to technicians, including diagnosing complex malfunctions and supporting troubleshooting procedures.
- Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and best practices to maximize efficiency and equipment reliability.
- Plan and schedule routine and emergency maintenance activities, minimizing equipment downtime while maintaining compliance with industry and airport safety standards.
- Lead, coach, and develop staff, providing performance feedback, training, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee inventory management for parts and supplies, ensuring availability to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance, leveraging data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with airport departments, airlines, and external vendors to meet operational needs and achieve KPIs, including in-service rates and preventive maintenance compliance.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements through regular audits, safety meetings, and training sessions.
- Manage departmental budgets, including cost control, forecasting, and vendor management.
- Stay informed on advancements in GSE technology, equipment, and industry best practices to drive innovation and operational improvement.

- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Pass a background check and drug screen
- 8+ years of experience in maintenance or technical operations
- Experience in corporate, charter, or ground services aviation environments preferred
- Experience with CMMS maintenance tracking systems preferred
- Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience preferred
- Proven leadership skills and experience in managing technical teams
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, maintenance protocols, and operational procedures in airport environments
- Proficiency in managing budgets and operational planning
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and adapt to changing operational needs
- Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)

- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds

- Specific vision abilities required for this job include: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
