POSITION SUMMARY
The Excavator Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment in support of solar power plant construction. This role includes excavation, trenching, grading, and assisting with module installation and other general site activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including but not limited to excavators, skid steers, mini-excavators, forklifts, and backhoes.
- Perform trenching, excavating, grading, and other earthwork tasks in accordance with project specifications.
- Support the installation and mounting of solar modules as directed.
- Perform minor concrete work and paving tasks.
- Assist with general construction site activities, including equipment setup, materials handling, and site cleanup.
- Use hand tools and follow proper safety procedures on all assigned tasks.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by site supervision.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating construction equipment in a professional environment.
- At least 3 years of general construction labor experience, including trenching and excavation work.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Other Competencies and Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving/safety record.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more.
- Must have reliable transportation to job sites.
- Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time for in-state and out-of-state projects.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This role is primarily field-based and physically demanding. Work is conducted outdoors in a variety of weather and terrain conditions, often involving climbing, lifting, and bending. Weekday work is required, with possible weekend assignments. Travel, overnight stays, and extended time at job sites—typically located in the Southwestern United States—may also be necessary.
