We’re looking for a motivated leader with experience in behavioral health or healthcare who is ready to make a meaningful impact every day. 


Job Summary

The Support Staff Manager is responsible for managing support staff at a site across professional disciplines.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on the unit.
  • Provide expert knowledge of workforce forecasting and planning to ensure necessary staffing levels to support demand.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, orientation, supervision, and support staff professional development.
  • Maintain positive program culture among staff, clients, and families.
  • Partner with the leadership team to develop and execute strategic training plans and performance metrics that drive productivity.
  • Maximize employee satisfaction, development, and performance through goal setting, performance management practices, and employee culture-building initiatives.
  • Develop and retain a team of leads, providing coaching and developmental opportunities that continuously build, and expand both individual and team capabilities.
  • Responds to emergency and/or crisis situations gracefully; performs intervention and actions as appropriate to optimize patient safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • As part of Axiom Care’s commitment to Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS), this position supports efforts to provide inclusive and accessible translation services for clients. Responsibilities may include participating in CLAS-related training, supporting language access initiatives, and promoting cultural sensitivity in day-to-day operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises support staff, and accomplishes human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • Working knowledge of substance abuse treatment.
  • Working knowledge of leadership and management principles and styles.
  • Working knowledge of self-help programs, including (but not limited to) AA, NA, SMART Recovery, and Celebrate Recovery.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Internet software; Payroll systems; Email software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Action Orientated: A bias towards taking action in a situation. Calculated risk taking, even when not all relevant information may be known. Consistently maintains high levels of activity or productivity; sustains long hours when necessary, works with vigor, effectiveness, and determination over a sustained period.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or workplace equivalent.
  • Two to four years in a management role in a substance abuse, behavioral health, or high intensity health care setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
